Nowadays it has been renovated and it is the official museum of Thionville; it has become a museum of archeology. The set up is really modern and there are a lot of explicative signboards in order to inform all the visitors of the rich past of Thionville.
There are four different floors chronologically organized to make it easier to understand the history of the region. This museum is classified as one of the best museum in France.
“La Tour aux puces” is the oldest monument in Thionville. It used to be the donjon of “Le chateau des comtes” (a castle) and it was built during the tenth century.
It is a little sad to imagine this place sort of as a jail where people could have been tortured.

It is free to access the museum and it is open tuesday through friday from 2pm untill 6pm.
