The weather might not be as good as in the south of France but when summer finally decides to show up in Lorraine, the inhabitant of Metz and its surroundings are glad to take a little sunny break in “Metz Plage” (Metz beach). No need to drive for hours anymore in order to feel the hot sand under your feet; 1500 tons of sand together with an outdoor swimming pool and numerous events and activities are organized to make sure that people enjoy the always way too short summer.

 

It might not seem like a big deal for a city like Metz to replace the grass by some sand but for children that cannot afford for vacation it makes a huge difference. For a couple hours they can escape the big and cold building of downtown and come have a good time in “Metz Plage”.
